The K-8 Faith Formation Program in St. Katharine Drexel Catholic Parish

Susan Kirkwood-YatesEffective June 1, 2013, Susan Kirkwood-Yates began serving as our parish-wide Director of Religious Formation for Grades K-8. As many of you know, Susan has served for the past 14 1/2 years overseeing Religious Formation in the former St. Patrick Parish. Her many years of experience and especially her education, which approaches the level of achieving a Master’s Catechists credential, makes her well qualified to excel in this important position.

While significantly reducing her involvement at St. Patrick’s and Our Lady of the Pine in the months to come, she will be responsible for implementing the diocesan recommendations for our parish presented to us last August following the evaluation of the diocesan Department of Evangelization and Catechesis:

If you have any questions regarding religious formation, please don’t hesitate to call Susan at 223-2970. She can also be reached by email at skirkwoodyates@stkatharinedrexel.com

Let us welcome and congratulate Susan as she helps us all to be missionaries of our Lord as we bring the Good News to new generations.

Is God Calling You?

We are always looking for individuals who feel they may be called to the important ministry of catechesis. Please pray and ask yourself if God may be calling you to this important and rewarding role in his Church? By becoming a catechist, not only do you have the joy of knowing you are tending to His children, but you also gain so much in your own faith formation, as you share this journey with those you teach.

If you think you do not have the knowledge to be a catechist, or you have never taught, but you live a faith-filled life and have the strong desire to share that faith with children, please let us know. There will be several opportunities for your own personal faith formation and excellent resources available for teaching.

If you would like to find out more information or if you have already decided you would like to volunteer as a catechist please call Susan Kirkwood-Yates at the parish center at 223-2970.
